Ahmedabad University Centre, Gujrat (India)

The project is situated in the main Ahmedabad University campus, among contributions by other renowned architects and next to the foremost architecture institution in the country, the CEPT University. The program of the building aims to fill the student’s leftover time, providing a space where students from all the schools can engage in activities. The building is envisioned as stacked volumes of concrete blocks as the facade, which provides shade from the harsh summer sun of Ahmedabad. Light is brought into the building through deep set verandahs and skylights that carry the light diagonally through the atrium. The building is energy efficient and generates power through solar panels and caters to the water recycling requirement of the whole campus. The building is LEED Gold Certified.
